## Pat Springle
Pat Springle is the president of Baxter Press. Pat served for 18 years on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. For 11 of those years, he was the Texas Area Director for the Campus Ministries. In 1990, Pat became the Senior Vice President of Rapha Treatment Centers and was responsible for all their books and seminars. In 1993, he founded Baxter Press, named after Richard Baxter, the 17th century English pastor who was known for his ability to profoundly apply the Scriptures.
Pat has authored or co-authored over 50 books covering a variety of topics from Christian psychology to humor. These have been released by publishers such as Word, Thomas Nelson, Tyndale, LifeWay, and Vine Books, as well as by Baxter Press.
“A lot of people have a message they want to communicate,” Springle related, “but too few of them will have their message published through traditional publishing companies. At Baxter Press, we want to help them get that message across in a compelling and cost-efficient way.”
Even authors who have published through traditional companies in past years are discovering the benefits of self-publishing. An author of 18 books recently said, “I’m very frustrated with my publisher.
- I get very little marketing support from them.
- In fact, if I didn’t market the books myself, I’m not sure they’d sell very many at all.
- And if I’m doing all the marketing, it doesn’t make sense for me to make only a royalty and let the publisher rake in the lion’s share of the profits.
- After my recent experiences, self-publishing looks really good to me.”
> Pat and his wife Joyce live in Friendswood, Texas. They have two grown children, Catherine and Taylor.

Baxter Press can assist with all aspects of the publishing process, including writing if needed, the editing process, cover design, interior formatting, and will provide a printing quote for the quantity and type of book you would like to print, whether paperback, hardback, or spiral binding. We can also convert your book into an e-book for distribution on Amazon.com, iTunes Bookstore, or Barnes & Noble for the Nook.
Because we do custom publishing, we don’t have a fixed price list for printing. We work with several different printers, and the volume we print insures that we get the best price possible for you.
The cost of printing your book depends on several factors:
- trim size of the book (the dimensions of the page)
- number of pages
- type of paper stock
- any color drawings or photos included in the text
- number of black and white photos, if any
- your choice of hardback, paperback or spiral binding
- dust jacket for hardback books
- and of course, the number of copies
Typically, we don’t produce less than 1,000 copies for paperbacks or less than 500 copies for hardbacks. The price breaks are significant at 3,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 copies. Most of our clients print 3,000 to 5,000 copies.
# Book Covers
A book’s cover design is tremendously important in attracting buyers. We work with skilled graphic artists to produce covers which grab attention and invite the shopper to take a longer look. We have access to hundreds of thousands of professional photographs, and we’ll help you select the one that is just right for your cover…or one of our artists can do an original work for your cover.
## ISBN Registration
Baxter Press will assign an ISBN number and list your book with *Books In Print.* Your book will then be in that publication in the reference section in every library in the country, as well as on the Books in Print web site for every bookstore. You, the author, will retain the copyright to your book.
